Simple Bedtime Skin Routines that Work

For most of us, a daily skin routine is essential, but it can be difficult to find one that works. Everyone’s skin is very different, but a skin routine both in the morning and the evening can help nourish your skin and keep it hydrated, especially while you sleep. Make a DIY Beauty Mask

There are quite a few DIY skin routines that produce results. One of our favorite DIY beauty and skin recipes is the all-natural oatmeal facial. Simply combine half a cup of very hot (but not boiling) water, a third cup of oatmeal, two tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of Greek yogurt, and an egg white until blended well. Scrub the mixture into your face and let it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing. The end result will be the removal of dirt and oil, fewer blackheads, and more moisturized skin.

Drink Plenty of Water

Another task you can work into your beauty routine is to make sure you’re drinking enough water! It’s generally recommended that you consume at least eight cups of water each day, but this number could be even higher if you do a lot of running around throughout the day, or live in a hot or dry climate. By drinking enough water, you keep your skin better hydrated. As a result, the skin is plumper and fine lines and wrinkles are less noticeable. Furthermore, when skin is well hydrated, it’s less likely to crack and become prone to dirt or other particles that could lead to pimples, blemishes, and irritation.

Get Enough Sleep

When it comes to your skin, getting enough rest can make all the difference. You see, when you don’t get enough sleep, you’re more likely to be stressed out and irritable. As a result, your body produces more cortisol, which is known to cause acne breakouts and can worsen conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Getting enough sleep, on the other hand, has the exact opposite effect; you’re less stressed and better rested, so your body is able to better take care of itself. In turn, it produces less cortisol, which reduces your chances of breakouts and other skin issues.

It’s recommended that the average adult needs at least eight hours of sleep per night, but this can vary from person to person. Just make sure that you’re going to sleep at a decent hour – the goal is always to feel well-rested the next morning!

Use a Daily Moisturizer

It’s wise to invest in a quality daily skin moisturizer. Always look for a moisturizer that is specifically formulated for use on the facial skin, which is different than the skin on other parts of your body. By using the right daily moisturizer, you’ll be less likely to clog your pores and less prone to breakouts and blemishes. It is also smart to use a moisturizer in the evening that is specifically formulated for nighttime use, as your skin acts differently while you are sleeping.
