Any time is playtime for kids, even during your evening beauty regimen. If you have ever seen your daughter putting slices of cucumbers over her eyes, you know what I mean! Kids love to mimic their parents reactions. Since we love talking about how to make homemade face masks, it makes sense that this article would go that way as well. But there’s one difference: this article is about how to make a face mask for kids and have fun while doing it!
Kids love to play. Kids love to play with food. Kids love to make messes. This makes putting together face masks that they can use the perfect evening activity for the whole family. You don’t need much. Most of the time the things you need will be in your pantry already. Make sure you start with a clean face and pull all the hair away so that it doesn’t get into the mask. Then just dive in!
Ready to have some fun? Here are some great face masks that your child can make:
Avocado and Banana Mask
This face mask is very good for your skin. Both fruits hydrate and moisturize your skin. They are also so mushy and fun to sink your hands into!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- ½ avocado
- ½ banana
- 2 tablespoons of yogurt
Mask the banana and avocado together with your hands, making sure to remove any chunks (you could use a blender to do this but it’s more fun with your hands). Stir in the yogurt until everything is smooth. Apply it generously to your face and let it sit for 10 minutes.
If your child is a bit older and can handle a knife this will be a lot of fun! Select whatever non-acidic fruits you have at home – bananas, apples, kiwi, grapes, etc. and cut them in half. Blend them with a hand blender to puree. Then apply! You can use your hands or you can use a paintbrush for this masterpiece. Let it sit on your face for 10 minutes before rinsing off.
Chocolate Face Mask
Get out your camera because you’ll want a picture of this one for sure! This chocolate face mask is as fun as it is healthy. Cocoa is also a great moisturizer for your skin. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3 tbsp. heavy cream
- 2 tsp. cottage cheese
- ¼ cup honey
- 3 tsp. Oatmeal
Mix all of these ingredients together in a bowl with a hand mixer. Leave it on your face for 10 minutes before rinsing.
Kids learn by playing. What better way to introduce them to proper skin care than learning how to make a face mask for kids? Not only will they enjoy the process of making them and smearing them all over their faces, they will spend time with you in ways that are unique. Create these fun face masks and eat whatever is left (why let yummy fruit and chocolate go waste?). Giggle, make funny faces, and have a blast. This is the way memories are made.
