How to Choose Multiple Colors For Your Colombre

We’ve all heard of the ombre trend and its widespread popularity. Recently, there has been a beautiful twist on this trend with the introduction of colombre. A quick refresher if you’re not familiar with colombre – colombre hair color refers to blending a rainbow of various colors into the hair, creating a unique look that’s perfect for color-lovers. If you’re interested in trying the colombre look out for yourself, however, there are some things you’ll need to know.

You’ll need to start by knowing the type of hair color you are using, choosing specific colors that are ideal for your skin tone, and learning how to do rainbow hair through the colombre technique. Fortunately for you, we’ve got all that covered (and more!) in the sections below.

The Color Type

Before you begin thinking about which colors of the rainbow you wish to incorporate into your colombre design, you’ll want to know more about the type of color you are using.

To achieve your best Colombre hair, your bright colors are semi-permanent. A semi-permanent dye will normally last four to eight shampoos depending on the porosity of your hair, but when using a semi-permanent to achieve a vibrant and bright color, the color will only fade over time and may not completely wash out. This happens because to achieve the bright pop of color, you have to lighten your hair first. The best thing to compare it to would be staining a piece of white clothing.

As a result, conducting a strand test is very important to make sure the color you chose is the right one for you.

Selecting Your Ideal Colors

Now that you have a better understanding of the hair formula you will be using to achieve your colombre, it’s time to start thinking about which colors you want to use. When it comes to hair colors, your options are essentially endless.

Also, it is important to note that not all colors complement all skin tones well. As you determine which colors you want to experiment with, be sure to consider how well they’ll blend with other colors in addition to how they will look on your skin tone and with your eye color. For example, if you have very tan skin, then you may want to stay away from shades of yellows and oranges.
