Easy Mani/Pedi Combos to DIY

Do you love the way your nails look when you come back from a fresh mani/pedi, but dislike the high price tag that comes with the nail salon? If so, try doing your own manicures and pedicures from the comfort and convenience of your own home. Believe it or not, there are all kinds of great DIY nail hacks that can help you achieve that nail salon look for just a fraction of the price. We love some of these latest nail designs below!

Using Tape for Sharp Lines

If you love a French manicure, you might be thinking that there’s no way you could ever achieve that polished, clean look by doing your own nails. Well, it’s easier than you think! All you need are a few strips of tape and some nail polish to create sharp, clean lines (such as those on a French manicure or pedicure). Simply paint your nails with a base coat and allow them to dry completely. Then, take a few pieces of masking or painter’s tape and place them so that they cover all but the tips of your nails. Then, paint over the tips with the color of your choice!

Creating Polka Dots With Toothpicks

Polka dots are notoriously difficult to create neatly on toenails and fingernails (especially when you’re trying to paint them on your dominant hand), but this hack makes it easier than ever. Simply grab a toothpick and dip the tip of it into the nail polish of your choice. Then, apply small dabs of polish from the tip of the toothpick for perfect polka dots with minimal effort. For larger dots, you can follow the same steps with a cut-in-half Q-tip.

Use Lace for an Intricate Design

Want to create a truly elegant design on your nails that will look like it was done by a professional? This simple trick will become a new favorite. Simply cut a piece of lace (or fishnet, if you’d prefer), tape it tightly over your nail with masking tap, and then use a makeup brush to dab nail polish over the fabric. When you pull the fabric away, you’ll reveal an amazingly intricate design with hardly any effort that you can repeat on all of your nails for a one-of-a-kind look.

Have Fun With Splattered Color

Achieve splattered nail art with all of your favorite colors by dipping a straw into a bottle of nail polish of your choice. Then, holding one hand out on a table in front of you, flick the straw so that the color flings onto your hands and nails. Repeat with as many colors as you want for a fun design! Just be sure to lay down some newspaper or plastic to catch the mess, and consider applying petroleum jelly on the skin around your nails for quick and easy removal of any unwanted spatter.

With these DIY nail designs, who knows when you’ll even want to set foot inside a nail salon again? Be sure to give some or all of these a try, along with some of our other top beauty trends on the Ion at Home blog.
